A Universal Design
This project required me to redesign a hotel room to meet legislated requirements in the OBC (Ontario Building Code) and AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act ). In addition, I reported on the design’s alignment with Universal Design Principles, as well as producing a Cross Disability Analysis. This involves analyzing if and how the new design is inclusive for:
- Persons using mobility devices;
- Persons hard of hearing or are Deaf;
- Persons who are Blind or have low vision;
- Persons have limited dexterity;
- Persons who have limited strength and stamina;
- Persons with cognitive disabilities (neurodiversity); and
- Persons of short stature
