Accessible Hotel Room

A Universal Design

This project required me to redesign a hotel room to meet legislated requirements in the OBC (Ontario Building Code) and AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act ). In addition, I reported on the design’s alignment with Universal Design Principles, as well as producing a Cross Disability Analysis. This involves analyzing if and how the new design is inclusive for:

  • Persons using mobility devices;

  • Persons hard of hearing or are Deaf;

  • Persons who are Blind or have low vision;

  • Persons have limited dexterity;

  • Persons who have limited strength and stamina;

  • Persons with cognitive disabilities (neurodiversity); and

  • Persons of short stature
