Band Saw Box
An idea for a box using the band saw box technique, made with basswood. Tools used: band saw, sanding machine, sanding paper, wax finish.
How it works:
CUTTING AND GLUING: I cut out the various pieces from a block of basswood (2” x 3” x 5”) using a band saw, and glued them together to create my box.
THE LID: I cut a slice of the core and attached it to the lid to act as a key.
SANDING AND FINISHING. I used a sanding machine and sanding paper to shape the exterior and interior respectively. I sanded the box with the sanding machine, with the lid and box held together. I used a ‘wax’ finish after sanding my box. All of the below photos are after I had applied the wax finish.
