Arc Welding and Bending
Designing a Pen Box
This project involved my first real exposure to MIG (Metal Inert Gas) and TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas) welding. I started out by welding small metal plates, and then proceeded to making a square tray. I used a bandsaw to create the base and 4 sides, and then used a Brake (sheet metal bending) machine to bend the 4 sides. I then welded the 4 edges. At this point, I was comfortable enough to make my pen box. I used the same aforementioned techniques and tools for this pen box, and incorporated a hinge to make the pen box openable. I was pretty satisfied with the end result.
