Measuring Machine
A Drawing Instrument
The objective of this project was to design and fabricate a measuring machine. This project focuses on the spatial translation from three dimensions to two dimensions and involves the accurate measuring and transcription of measured objects onto a drawing space. I designed and built a system to accurately draw and measure a fruit (pear). The machine is able to transcribe the information of the tangible object (fruit) into a two-dimensional drawing. I wanted to design something that related to a graph, corresponding to the (x,y,z) concept. It is easy and user friendly. To use, one would set the x value first, then move up a z value, poke for y, and then move up the z value and continue until y has no more values. After that, they would switch the x value and repeat the process. Thereafter, one would plot their coordinates on Rhino to start planning their 2d drawing
