Dwelling is an exploration studio involving imaginative social, ecological and formal answers to the needs of shelter. Can we imagine a supportive, nurturing, and sustainable dwelling? This is a built project from start through to finish: from research, to diagram, to structure, to drawing. The aim of this project is to “do more with less.” This is about making transitional, intimate and informal architecture, rather than grand, permanent or styled formalism. My site selection at Humber Bay Park accommodates human safety, warmth and light as well as closeness to amenities (e.g. a bike path), but it also engages the client with the beauty of Toronto by opening up to a view of Lake Ontario. The dwelling unit will accommodate for cooking & food preparation, personal hygiene, resting (reading/leisure), work study, sleeping, eating and comfort.
