CARRIAGE HOUSE

This design is a two storey (70 m²) carriage house, which will be located in the rear yard of an existing home, in a residential district of Toronto with a generic address. It is a small project with a simple design.
The program for the carriage house is as follows:
Studio space for artist
Open studio, flat work tables, seating
3 piece washroom (sink / toilet / shower)
Additional sink for art/dishes
Storage for art materials and canvases
Large windows into garden area, ability to open up to air. Windows to side yard - OBC Table 9.10.15.4. for east and west walls.
Prevention of direct south light in work area – daylighting solutions
Sustainability is considered and used to drive decision making
Year round occupancy – the building is heated/cooled and is insulated
Stairway to second floor with bedroom area
